You will never imagine that the lovely site for Khovsgol Inn once was Khatgal town’s neighborhood dump. Our commitment to run environmentally proper business began with transforming the neighborhood dump into a clean, healthy community.
This project started with cleaning the site and removing 5 truck loads of trash. We have also replaced 6 pit toilets of poor quality in the area with only two environmentally friendly outhouses or ecosan toilets.
It has been hard but very rewarding to turn a dumpster into a well maintained tourism camp. It has already set an exemplary standard to the local people.
We have received many compliments from locals and foreigners who see the difference. We are sure that our commitment to hard work to promote this place will contribute to the conservation of Lake Khovsgol.
Ecosan – What is this?
Ecosan is short for ecological sanitation. It is a relatively new paradigm in sanitation that recognizes that what we generally call human waste – i.e., excreta – is actually not a waste, but can be a great resource. Our digestions leaves lots
of nutrients (mainly in the form of nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus, plus some trace elements), which are not available to our body, but are very well available to plants.
This resource should not be wasted, but reused instead!
